My name is Altaf, and I am from India. I was born with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia, although I was not diagnosed until I was 12 years old.
Living with GT has brought many challenges throughout my life, especially frequent gum bleeding. Over the years, I have learned how to manage these challenges and better understand my condition.
For about 40 years, I’ve used alum (potassium aluminum sulfate) for minor gum bleeding and superficial bleeding.
After decades of living with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia, the message I want to share with others in the GT community is simple: don’t be afraid of this condition.
There will be challenges, but you can learn to live with GT, understand your body, and find ways to manage the difficult moments.
I hope everyone living with Glanzmann Thrombasthenia stays strong and continues looking toward a healthier future with gene therapy around the corner.
