Today marks the 19th anniversary of the Glanzmann Thrombasthenia Support Group, an online community that connects people affected by Glanzmann Thrombasthenia (GT).

For nearly two decades, people with GT, parents, caregivers, and family members worldwide have used the group to ask questions, share experiences, post photos, offer advice, exchange helpful links, and connect with others who understand the challenges of living with an extremely rare bleeding disorder.

Nearly Two Decades of GT Knowledge

What makes the group especially valuable is not simply its size, but its history.

Over 19 years, members have created thousands of discussions covering nearly every aspect of life with GT. Questions and conversations have included nosebleeds, dental procedures, surgeries, menstruation, pregnancy, injuries, medications, treatments, traveling, school, raising a child with GT, finding specialists, and much more.

Those discussions, along with years of shared images, links, resources, personal experiences, and practical advice, have created an enormous searchable archive of real-world GT knowledge.

For a disorder as rare as Glanzmann Thrombasthenia, where many people may never meet another person with GT in their everyday lives, that history matters.

Approaching 1,000 Members

Today, the Glanzmann Thrombasthenia Support Group is approaching 1,000 members worldwide.

Every question asked, and every experience shared adds to the group’s collective knowledge. A conversation from years ago can still help a newly diagnosed family searching for information today.

After 19 years, the group has become one of the most valuable community resources available to people affected by Glanzmann Thrombasthenia, built almost entirely by people with GT and their families helping one another.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed, whether you have been part of the group for years or joined recently.

Here’s to 19 years of the GT community helping each other, and to many more ahead.
